South Africa - The Secret View

One of the great things about traveling with the Peruvian TV show "Peruanos en el Mundo" is that everywhere we go, we meet people who live in that city.  They know the area and they often show us things that most tourists would never experience.

That was the case when we went to Cape Town, South Africa in June, 2016.  Most tourists would do what we did when we first arrived.  We climbed to the top of Table Mountain, a flat-top mountain that rises 35 hundred feet above sea level.   The mountain dominates Cape Town and the views are spectacular.

Then we met Germán De La Melena.  Germán is both a travel agent and a real estate agent who knows the city well.   He had recently discovered a view which was even better than the one from Table Mountain.

It wasn't easy to find.  It's in a residential neighborhood where Germán had recently listed a home for sale.  He pulled over to the side of the road and we made a short hike to a rock where this photo was taken.

The view was amazing.   We liked it so much that we immediately decided to shoot the open for the South Africa episode of the program there.  (You can see it at 0:53 in the clip below.)  In my six years of shooting with Peruanos en el Mundo, this is one of my favorite places where we have shot an interview.

Germán wasn't finished showing us great views.   After this, he invited us to his cliff side home where we watched an amazing sunset.

Cape Town is a beautiful city with lots of great views, but I think the "secret" view is the best.

Notes

I've linked the entire episode we shot in Cape Town below.  After Cape Town, we traveled to Johannesburg, where we shot another South African show.  It is also linked below.
